Questions

Frequently asked questions

Only about 14 percent of Zambia's 1.5 million smallholder farmers reach formal credit. The reason is not the risk everyone assumes. It is that the record which would make a farmer bankable is never written down.

Straight answers to the questions farmers, funders and partners ask us most.

What is Daka Ntembe Corporation (DNC)?

DNC is a Zambian rural infrastructure organisation. We buy maize from smallholder farmers at a fair price, record every transaction through our platform Panjiia, and build the trusted data and financial identity that unlock lasting rural prosperity.

Where does DNC operate?

Our buying and field operations are in Zambia’s Eastern Province, working village by village through our field agents, with operations led from the ground.

What does DNC buy?

We buy maize, Zambia’s most important crop, at a fair market price with quick payment. We are expanding deliberately, season by season, with groundnuts and soya under consideration as the model proves out.

What is Panjiia?

Panjiia is DNC’s platform. It records every purchase at the point of sale, GPS-tagged and verified, building each farmer’s financial identity and Zambia’s trusted farmer registry.

Is DNC a charity or an NGO?

No. DNC is a Zambian company built for the long term. Impact is the point of the business: fair pay, market access and financial inclusion for smallholder farmers, delivered through trade that sustains itself rather than aid that runs out.

How do farmers benefit from selling to DNC?

A guaranteed fair buyer, honest weighing, quick payment, and a verified record of every sale in the farmer’s name. That record builds the financial identity that unlocks credit and inputs. Around 60 percent of the farmers we work with are women.

How can funders and partners work with DNC?

We work with grant funders, development finance institutions, researchers, buyers and government partners who take the long view. Write to us through the contact page at dakantembe.com/contact and we will share our plans and evidence.
